Jorge Bermudez

JORGE BERMUDEZ, from Brazil, is a Medical Doctor, DSc in Public Health, currently Senior Professor/ Researcher and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Policies at the National School of Public Health, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), also a member of the DNDi Board. Between 2011 until 2017 he was Vice-president for Health Production and Innovation at Fiocruz; Executive Director of Unitaid (hosted by WHO in Geneva) from 2007 to 2011; Unit Chief of Essential Medicines and Health Technologies at PAHO/WHO in Washington DC from 2003 to 2007. Previously he was the Director of the National School of Public Health and also Director of Farmanguinhos, both at Fiocruz. He has written and published books, book chapters and articles dealing with Public Health, access to medicines and intellectual property and was a member of the UN Secretary-general High-level panel on access to medicines during 2016.
